What should I do for my 12th birthday?
I’m turning 12 this year in August. I don’t or can’t do a Basement Party, Concert, Chicago Fire Game, Carnival, Back/Front yard party, Bowling, Sports theme, Park, Haunted Trails, Enchanted Castle, and Ice/Roller skating. Its going to be a Boys/Girls party, and i have nothing to do.
I wrote something like this for “Help!!! B~day party!!?”
Are there (about) equal numbers of girls and boys?
Go outside somewhere and have a huge boys vs girls war- water balloons, relay races, tag variations… ya know how much more fun play-day was in elementary school than it is in middle? (at least where i live)… try to re-create play day/field day, if you can remember any of those games.
You can also up a scavenger hunt, and have someone who’s not playing (like your parents) hide a box full of gum/chocolate coins (make sure they don’t melt), candy necklaces, keychains, little toys (like water squirters- i did it and used OrientalTrading.com)… get them to give you a riddle, that leads to another riddle, that leads to another riddle… make the 4th or 5th clue lead you to the treasure, and let everybody split the loot.
if you’d rather, you can mix boys/girls and just pick teams (2 or 3).
I think parties are best with a theme- try PIRATE (indoor or outdoor, scavenger hunt, shuttle relay race with a message in a bottle, veggies or chips- with dip seved in a whale (google “cucumber whale” and look at the 3rd on, from flickr- just imagine cutting a ditch in the top to hold ranch), island cake, decorate with a pirate flag…), CASTLE (indoor or outdoor, lego castle or sand castle contest- you’re going for fast and fun, not detail crazy so if you use legos try to get little kid duplo- treasure hunt (not like the team hunt, you could do that, or you could hide plastic gems/jewelry all around the room- inside- and let everyone look for them), get fancy glasses/ fancy plastic cups and make floats, with vanilla icecream and gingerale and food coloring, castle cake- ice cream cones, upside down pointy or right side up flat bottom, make good tower tops-, ask everyone to come dressed up), FIELD DAY (already described that, but make sure everyone comes in clothes that can get wet)…
