ladies roller skates

I watched on the news about Natasha Richardson’s fatal death from a skiing accident. She was a 45 year old mother of two. She fell while skiing and knocked her head. The point is she got up feeling fine. However that not so important knock caused a bleed which within hours left the poor lady brain dead.
I didn’t know who she was but the details to what caused her death got me really thinking.
When riding a bike we are told to wear head gear meaning a helmet. If you are roller skating you are advised to wear knee pads, elbow pads and a helmet. However when I’ve seen skiing on television whether it’s competition level or for pleasure, especially in films, I see the skiers wear protective clothing, special goggles but no helmets, just woolly hats.
Now if you are going down a slope at a certain speed wouldn’t you wear protective head gear? Hopefully the organisations that run the ski slopes or the businesses that provide the protective clothing will now adhere to advising the public and skiers about wearing protective head gear.
I remember when I brought my laptop, soon after the purchase I went out and also brought a laptop bag. Why? Because I had spent a great deal of money getting the laptop and I couldn’t afford getting it damaged. Isn’t this the way we should think about our own head, our own brain. I find it fascinating that we take so much for granted until it’s to late.
I hope this shocking incident that happened to Natasha Richardson open peoples eyes towards how we protect ourselves. A broken laptop could be claimed back via the insurance policy, you then can replace the laptop. We can’t get a new brain and even if surgery is involved your brain may not be the same again. Are you prepared to take the risk with something so special and unique to you? Protect your brain while you have the choice to, wear a helmet.
